Pipe Bundles for Wet Electrostatic Filters in the Pulp and Paper Industry

The paper industry relies on wet electrostatic filters in their flue gas cleaning devices. Theyare used to remove pollutants that are formed in upstream washing processes, such asaerosols, dust, ash particles and acidic fumes.

STEULER-KCH is the expert when it comes to sophisticated solutions involving plastics. We supply made-to-measure plastic pipe bundles that wet electrostatic filters need to operate. The principle is as simple as it is effective: to separate the pollutants, they are first electrostatically charged within the pipes of the electrostatic precipitator, then deposited on the oppositely charged surface of the pipes, and finally collected in the filter sump.

Our portfolio of services includes the design, production and installation of pipe bundles made from thermoplastic polymers, both with and without electrically conductive surfaces. We use modular designs that allow us to adapt the bundles to different component shapes and sizes, according to customer specifications. Our many years of experience make us the partner of choice for glass-fibre reinforced plastic (GRP) housings and pipes for irrigation systems and gas distribution.

Our pipes are mainly fabricated using the following thermoplastic materials:

  • Polypropylene (PP), adapted to be flame retardant
  • Unplasticised polyvinyl chloride (PVC-U), inherently flame retardant
  • Post-chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (PVC-C), inherently flame retardant
  • Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), inherently flame retardant

We offer you professional support from an assigned contact person – from the initial consultation through to on-site installation. We provide you with detailed, customised advice on selecting the optimal combination of materials, taking into account factors from the plant environment, such as the expected chemical, mechanical and thermal stresses and the plant’s geometry. Our consultancy service always includes a plausibility check regarding design and materials and comprehensive project support to ensure smooth and timely implementation – even for complex projects. We develop customised material combinations in close consultation with our customers in the paper and pulp industry. Our after-sales  service gives our customers the opportunity to share their experiences of completed projects, to learn about current product developments and if desired, to have previously installed products inspected and evaluated concerning their remaining service life.
