STEULER-KCH is a dependable partner of the paper and pulp industry. Our vessels, process equipment and customised engineering solutions made of glass fibre reinforced plastics are used for chemical treatment in processing and storage facilities. Materials from STEULER-KCH are the preferred choice wherever highly corrosive media must be handled, such as for transporting liquids containing chlorine used in the bleaching process. Vessels, process equipment and customised engineering solutions made of plastics are primarily used where conventional materials fail due to their insufficient resistance.
We design, manufacture and install components in different versions.
Glass fibre-reinforced plastics (GRP) with thermoplastic linings (KERAVERIN®)
We primarily use the following thermoplastic materials as a liner material for the lining:
- Polypropylene (PP)
- Unplasticised polyvinyl chloride (PVC-U)
- Post-chlorinated PVC (PVC-C)
- Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF)
Naturally, we can also supply electrically conductive material systems suitable for use in areas subject to explosion hazards. Our components can be fabricated to be compliant with pressure equipment directives. We are also certified according to module H/H1.
The operating temperature range is between -50 °C and approximately 200 °C, depending on the composite material used. We're well equipped to handle large dimensions: we are able to fabricate vessels with a diameter of up to 5.5 m and up to 15 m in length/height.
KERA® - a reinforced phenolic resin moulding compound
The thermosetting KERA® resin is reinforced with glass fibres and/or carbon fibres together with special mineral fillers. The result is a material with outstanding chemical resistance to non-oxidising acids and solvents. KERA® is a malleable compound that places almost no limits on the design options we can offer. KERA® can be used for such things as industrial columns, vessels and pipework. Moreover, the phenolic-resin-based compound has proven reliable as a material for constructing absorbers, bubble cap and Thormann trays as well as for roller elements in processing plants.
STEULER-KCH's experienced specialists are there to provide you with expert assistance, from the initial consultation right through to final assembly – in Germany and around the world.
Our particular strength lies in consultancy: we work together with our customers to select the combination of materials (liner, fibre reinforcement, resin matrix, etc.) best suited for the chemical, mechanical and thermal stresses and the geometry to which they will be subjected in the plant. We develop customised material combinations in close consultation with our customers in the paper and pulp industry.
Our range of services includes a plausibility check regarding design and materials, and project support to ensure smooth and timely implementation, even for complex projects. We're flexible: we can make revisions and customise the supplied vessels at any time, even following delivery. Our after-sales service gives our customers the opportunity to share their experiences of completed projects, to learn about current product developments and if desired, to have the installed products inspected and evaluated.
